Description
2013 50¢ Snowman – Lenticular Holiday Coin
Celebrate the magic of a Canadian winter with this charming 2013 lenticular 50-cent coin. With a tilt of the coin, the scene shifts—first showing two kids and their excited dog building a snowman, then revealing their completed frosty creation. This playful motion effect makes the coin feel alive, capturing the joy, colour, and nostalgia of classic Canadian winters. With a mintage of 20,000, it’s a fun and affordable holiday collectible for all ages.
Design
The reverse features two full-colour scenes by Canadian artist Tony Bianco. The first shows the children hard at work rolling snowballs on a snowy front lawn, surrounded by festive decorations and a cozy winter home. Tilt the coin, and the image transforms to reveal the finished snowman—complete with top hat, carrot nose, buttons, scarf, and broom—while the kids proudly stand on each side and the family dog sits happily on a sled.
Obverse features the effigy of Queen Elizabeth II.
